Houston Audubon's mission is to advance the conservation of birds and positively impact their supporting environments. We do this through conservation, education, public engagement and advocacy. A significant part of our work is owning and managing 17 nature sanctuaries totaling 3,474 acres to protect habitat for birds and provide people recreational opportunities in nature. We were accredited as a land trust in July 2017.

Houston Audubon is a financially independent 501(c)(3) charitable conservation organization and is a chapter of National Audubon Society.
