Houston Hospice is a nonprofit hospice organization serving Greater Houston, founded in 1980 as the region's oldest and largest independent nonprofit hospice. It provides hospice care to patients and families of all ages and ethnicities in homes, in assisted living settings, and at the Margaret Cullen Marshall Hospice Care Center in the Texas Medical Center. Interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, counselors, and trained volunteers, work with primary care providers to identify goals and create individualized plans of care, with bereavement support for loved ones. Headquartered in the Texas Medical Center, Houston Hospice serves 13 counties across Texas, including Harris County. It operates as an in-network provider for most insurance plans and is licensed by Medicare and Medicaid, accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice and CHAP, and is a member of the Texas Medical Center, the Texas Non-Profit Hospice Alliance, and the Texas New Mexico Hospice Organization, with participation in the 27th Annual Spirit Award Dinner in October 2025.
