The Human Development Report Office (HDRO) operates within the United Nations Development Programme to publish the Human Development Report, an independent assessment commissioned by UNDP. Its mission is to advance human development by expanding opportunities, choice, and freedom, pursuing that goal through research, data analysis, and the presentation of results, as well as support for national and regional analysis and outreach and advocacy work. It also contributes to the Human Development Index, a composite measure of progress in long and healthy lives, knowledge, and a decent standard of living. Based in the United States, the office works with national authorities and international partners to inform policy and practice through its writing, research, analysis, and advocacy work. A recent development noted is UNDP's launch of a green financing model under the EU for Green Agenda in Serbia initiative, developed in partnership with Serbia's Ministry of Environmental Protection and the European Investment Bank's EIB Global arm.
