Human Rights First is a nonprofit advocacy organization that seeks to hold the United States to its stated commitments to human rights and the rule of law. For nearly five decades, it has pressed the U.S. government and private companies to respect human rights and uphold the rule of law. When these actors fail to meet standards, the organization pursues reform, accountability, and justice on behalf of affected individuals. It maintains a presence in New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles. In October 2025, it launched a free, secure mobile app designed to help immigrants prepare for possible ICE detention and act quickly during crises. It operates from bases in New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles as part of its ongoing effort to influence policymakers and private institutions on human rights issues.
