HRWC is a nonprofit environmental organization founded in 1965 and based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is southeast Michigan’s oldest organization dedicated to protecting the Huron River system. The council operates as a coalition of residents, businesses, and local governments across the Huron Valley, building partnerships to protect, rehabilitate, and sustain the river and its watershed. It monitors the Huron River, its tributaries, lakes, and groundwater, and runs programs addressing pollution prevention, wetlands and floodplain protection, citizen education, and land-use planning. Recent developments include the launch of a semi-real-time digital data viewer to improve access to water quality information.
