Hurst Manufacturing Company operates in the packaging and containers manufacturing industry and is located at 823 West 9th Street in Milan, Illinois. It originated in 1965 as Rock Island Packaging Corporation (RIPCO), founded by William Hurst to sub-contract packaging and advertising displays with a mission of high quality, reasonably priced products delivered on time. In 1981 the company expanded its building and, in 1987, completed a second building to house the wood division, bringing total facilities to 170,000 square feet on 13 acres. In the 2000s the company shifted toward sustainable materials, creating All Corr Specialties in 2005 to replace wood pallets with lightweight, eco-friendly corrugated pallets, and acquiring Creative Packaging in 2011, with all divisions merged under the name Hurst Manufacturing in 2012. Today the company is led by Todd and Marc Hurst, sons of the founder, and produces customizable, lightweight corrugated pallets that are recyclable; the business employs 2-10 people.
