Established in 1924, Interstate Amiesite was licensed to produce amiesite, a patented cold-mix, cold-laid bituminous concrete material which made a significant contribution to early road building. By 1954, the company had grown into a full-fledged paving contractor. In the late 1980's, Interstate Amiesite was renamed to IA Construction Corporation to reflect our diversification from paving to general contracting. In 2002, the Barrett Industries Corporation family of companies made us a part of their group, enabling us to remain a locally-rooted company with the benefits of worldwide expertise.

IA Construction Corporation is one of Barrett Industries Corporation’s many subsidiaries. We are prequalified to work in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland. With specialization in asphalt paving and pavement preservation, our wide range of services also includes cold-in-place recyclingfull-depth reclamation, crack sealing, and numerous surface treatments. 

Safety and environmental stewardship are important values in our culture. Our extensive safety program, companywide training, and safety officers in each of our operating regions have resulted in excellent safety performance. All of our asphalt plants have earned national recognition for environmental practices, safety, permitting and regulatory compliance, appearance, and community relations.
