ICAway (pronounced I-See-A-Way) is a human-centered advisory firm focused on advancing international student success through cross-cultural insight, advisor education, and workforce transition strategy. Founded by Kwan Segal, ICAway develops Human-Centered Cross-Cultural Advisory Systems that help universities, advisors, and student support professionals better understand the cultural, behavioral, and structural pressures international students face throughout their academic and career journeys. Our work bridges the gap between student intent, advisor interpretation, and employer expectations, equipping institutions with practical frameworks to support international students during high-stakes transitions such as networking, job search, and post-graduation work authorization periods. Our flagship initiative iCEP: Cross-Cultural Advisor Academy An online professional development program designed to equip university advisors with culturally grounded strategies to support international students across their academic, career, and post-graduation life cycle. Through iCEP, advisors learn how to: • Interpret international student behavior through cultural frameworks • Navigate complex constraints such as CPT/OPT timelines and immigration pressures • Build trust and communicate effectively across cultures • Support workforce readiness while respecting advisor role boundaries Our impact ICAway’s work empowers advisors and institutions to create environments where international students can navigate uncertainty, build professional relationships, and transition into the workforce with greater confidence and clarity. By translating cross-cultural insight into practical advisory systems, ICAway helps institutions strengthen student persistence, belonging, and long-term career outcomes.
