Icon - The Institute of Conservation is a membership-based organization in the civic and social sector focused on preserving cultural heritage. It seeks to raise awareness of the cultural, social, and economic value of caring for heritage and to uphold high standards of conservation. Its membership encompasses professional conservators, conservation scientists, volunteers, and heritage professionals, totaling about 2,500 individuals and organizations, with the majority based in the UK and many working internationally.

Based in London, Icon works to safeguard tangible heritage across artworks, architecture, archaeology, and a broad range of industrial, natural, and social history collections held by museums, heritage organizations, or other private or public collections. Its core purpose is to ensure cultural heritage remains valued, accessible, and safeguarded for the present and future. A notable recent development is the launch of a 'Values of Conservation' research project that seeks to articulate the value of conservation to stakeholders and the public.
