IHI Terrasun Solutions operates in the renewable energy services sector, delivering energy storage systems along with the integration, software, and ongoing services needed for large-scale deployments. The company was founded in 2014 as a subsidiary of Tokyo-based IHI Corporation and began in Cambridge, Massachusetts, by engineers seeking a more resilient and sustainable energy grid. It is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and maintains a compact, collaborative team focused on delivering successful projects.

Its target customers include operators and developers undertaking expansive energy storage projects, and Terrasun supports them through system integration and ongoing services that help maintain reliability over long reach. In 2022, the company formed a collaboration with its sister organization, IHI Power Services Corp., to expand project management and monitoring capabilities across the United States. Positioned within the renewable energy services landscape, Terrasun draws on its engineering heritage within a larger corporate group to address the challenges of deploying and operating large-scale energy storage installations.
