IM HealthScience (IMH) was founded in 2012 by a group of senior pharmaceutical executives as a science driven and patient centric company whose mission is to research, develop and make available state of the art medical foods for gastrointestinal conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Functional Dyspepsia (FD).

IMH is a family company rooted in the all too forgotten adage that the patient comes first and doing the right thing will always win out in the long term. 

As a small, private organization, IMH is committed to putting patients before profits. IMH is also committed to bringing cutting edge life science and world class clinical research to the medical foods industry. 

IMH firmly believes that medical foods can improve the lives of patients for whom dietary and lifestyle changes are not enough.

Medical foods can be thought of as products that are between prescription drugs and dietary supplements. Medical foods are derived from food products, but are specially formulated to address the nutritional issues related to specific diseases. These diseases cannot be managed through dietary and lifestyle changes alone. The ingredients are foods, approved food additives, or dietary ingredients that are Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They must comply with general food safety and manufacturing standards and regulations. Medical foods are different than dietary supplements primarily because they are intended for people with medical conditions, rather than healthy people. Medical foods are required to be used under medical supervision.
