The Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) supports immigrant families through policy advocacy, capacity building, and civic engagement, with the goal of keeping families together and helping them thrive. It provides immigration legal trainings, technical assistance, and educational materials to communities and legal service providers, while engaging in advocacy and civic participation to advance immigrant rights. The organization aims to help individuals obtain green cards, U.S. citizenship, permission to stay and work, and protection from deportation. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, ILRC operates additional offices in California’s Central Valley, in San Antonio and Austin, Texas, and in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1979 by Professor Bill Ong Hing to address gaps in legal services for immigrant clients, the nonprofit serves as a national resource center at the intersection of law, policy, and community education.
