The Independent Insurance Agents of New Mexico (IIANM) is a long-standing trade association for independent insurance professionals, chartered in 1934 and based in Albuquerque. It is the largest insurance trade association in the state, representing about 175 agencies, branches, and subsidiaries operated by more than 2,000 agents, brokers, and their employees. IIANM serves as the New Mexico arm of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America, the national association that connects independent producers across the country. The organization also engages more than ninety Associate and Affiliate Members, including major insurers, general agencies, and adjusters active in the state. The national association administers a broad suite of products and services to help member agencies compete in a changing insurance marketplace, and IIANM maintains an education facility at its Albuquerque headquarters for its programs. The IIANM structure reflects its roots and its role within the larger industry network, combining local activity with national advocacy and services.
