The Institute of Design (ID) advances the study and use of design in our world through its degree-granting Graduate School at the Illinois Institute of Technology, its Executive Academy, and its Action Labs. We educate the strategic designers, leaders, and changemakers who are creating tomorrow. Our Graduate School—the only design school in the US devoted completely to graduate study—was the first in North America to offer a PhD in Design, and remains the only to offer dual-degree MDes + MBA and MDes + MPA programs, as well as the new MS in Strategic Design Leadership. Known for introducing the world to human-centered design and systems design, we make real impact in the systems and experiences that touch us all: healthcare and supply chains, data structures and algorithms, policy and education. We believe in rigorous creativity and rapid iteration, and we believe anyone can learn to use design to transform the systems that shape our lives.
