Intellegis, the Latin word for understanding, was formed to address the need for specialized services for people with acquired brain injuries. The motto of the Brain Injury Association is, “At last someone understands.” As such, Intellegis is committed to providing competent professional staff that understand the unique needs of the brain injured population. Every person with a brain injury is an individual and requires that services be tailored to meet their needs based upon care plans developed in conjunction with their family members, case manager, medical team and other stakeholders. Our philosophy is that the resident determines how much they can achieve in their rehabilitation. The staff working at Intellegis have been trained with a primary focus of meeting the needs of the residents in a homelike setting within a residential community. Activities are developed that not only increase quality of life, but function in accord with cognitive, social, physical, spiritual and community goals. Intellegis is committed to providing specialized individual care for persons with acquired brain injuries in a comfortable homelike environment. Intellegis is located in the heart of Salt Lake Valley, minutes away from Salt Lake City Airport. We are located near the flagship hospital of Intermountain Healthcare, and within walking distance of Murray City Park where we have access to numerous public and recreational facilities including an outdoor amphitheater, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, indoor ice rink, an arboretum, softball and soccer fields, a gazebo, playgrounds, picnic sites with barbecue grills, hiking trails, pavilions and a golf course.
