The International AIDS Society is a mid-sized nonprofit based in Geneva, in the Geneva region. Its mission is to convene, educate and advocate for a world where HIV no longer threatens public health or individual well-being, bringing together researchers, policymakers and activists to coordinate a global response. The organization hosts major conferences that facilitate exchange of scientific findings and collaboration, including the International AIDS Conference and the IAS Conference on HIV Science. The IAS operates within the non-profit sector focused on global health, serving an international audience of scientists, policymakers and advocates. Its work addresses scientific, policy and advocacy challenges faced by people living with HIV and those affected by the disease. In December 2025 the IAS announced that IAS 2027, the 14th IAS Conference on HIV Science, will be held in Geneva and virtually from 11 to 15 July 2027, at Palexpo.
