The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is a research services organization and university located at Jalan Sungai Pusu, Gombak, Selangor 53100, Malaysia. It has between 1,001 and 5,000 employees and maintains a website at https://iium.edu.my. Established by the Government of Malaysia in 1983 following a plan announced by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 1982, IIUM integrates Islamic values with world-view across its humanities, scientific and technical curricula and uses English and Arabic as the mediums of instruction. The university promotes the philosophy reflected in its slogan "The Garden of Virtue and Knowledge" and aims to contribute to the improvement of quality of life by restoring the role of Muslims in education and knowledge creation. IIUM was designated as a Premier International Islamic Research University (PREMIER) by ISESCO in 2014, reflecting its focus on advanced research and a comprehensive learning environment. In recent years IIUM has engaged in international and regional collaborations, including a 2026 partnership with Nestlé Malaysia to develop educational modules for IIUM Kuantan focused on halal science and innovation, as well as MoUs with institutions such as the Maldives Monetary Authority (2025) and Yala Rajabhat University (2024).
