The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) operates in the Research Services industry and manages the International Space Station National Laboratory on behalf of NASA under a formal agreement. Since Congress designated the U.S. portion of the ISS as a national laboratory in 2005, CASIS provides access to the space station's microgravity environment and related facilities for non-NASA U.S. government agencies, academic institutions, and private sector entities. This arrangement enables research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by leveraging the orbiting laboratory’s low Earth orbit vantage point and varied space environments. CASIS is based in Rockledge, Florida, at 1005 Viera Boulevard Suite 101, and employs between 11 and 50 people. The organization maintains a website at iss-casis.org for information about its programs and operations.
