The mission of the Iowa Dental Association (IDA) is to encourage the improvement of the health of the public, to promote the art and science of dentistry and to represent the interests of the members of the dental profession and the public which it serves. 

The Iowa Dental Association is the largest, most representative dental association in Iowa. It consists of tripartite membership in the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, and the component district society. The IDA is a constituent society chartered by the American Dental Association. 

The IDA is divided into 10 component districts. Each component district maintains local leadership and elects representatives to the IDA Board of Trustees. The legislative and governing body of the IDA is the Board of Trustees.
