The Illinois State Dental Society is a professional association for dentists founded in Chicago in 1865 and now based in Springfield, Illinois. It aims to strengthen the dental profession and public oral health by supporting its members and advancing organized dentistry in the state. The society is organized into seven downstate districts and the Chicago District, and it elects officers and trustees from these divisions to govern its activities. In terms of membership, ISDS ranks as the fifth largest state dental society in the United States and maintains active involvement with the American Dental Association. It has pursued partnerships to adapt to industry changes, including a collaboration announced with ProSites to examine what marketing in the dental sector will look like in 2023. The organization has also seen staffing changes at its headquarters, such as the appointment of an office assistant in December 2021.
