Ishimaru & Associates was founded in 1997 to provide legal services to clients ranging from start-ups to forturne 500 companies in high technology and biotechnology.  

The firm’s intellectual property services include acting as inhouse and outside counsel for world-wide patent protection and utilization, trademarks, copyrights, intellectual property strategy and related matters.  We have foreign associates that cover every major country in the world.

The firm assists clients with idea and invention creation through patent brainstorming for new products and technologies and invention harvesting for existing products and technologies.  Our patent team prosecutes patent applications with a focus on global applications. We work with clients to build their patent portfolio, and we prosecute patents based on case law.

Our U.S. transaction team focuses on business formation, technologying licensing, contract review and leasing services.  Our international transaction team focuses on Asia, with emphasis on key Chinese-speaking regions, including the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.  We provide same time-zone legal support to U.S. managers formulating entry strategies, overseeing negotiations, preparing and filing applications in Chinese and English, drafting and reviewing contracts, and establishing/operating legal entities in East Asia.  We are fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English
