Iskashitaa Refugee Network is a Tucson-based community services organization focused on improving the lives of refugees and enhancing the local food system through sustainable food initiatives, educational programs, and partnerships with volunteers and local agencies. Its programs emphasize community connections, English language practice, and opportunities for refugees to share, learn, work, and build meaningful relationships, while also addressing food security and reducing local food waste. The organization serves refugees and the broader Tucson community by fostering inclusive networks that integrate newcomers into Southern Arizona, using a grassroots approach that has grown to involve many ethnic groups and community partners. Founded by Barbara Eiswerth, Iskashitaa emerged from early efforts to harvest and redistribute locally produced food and has since developed a network of volunteers and programs aimed at empowerment, learning, and mutual support within the refugee community.
