ISVAG is an environmental services organization based in Wilrijk, in the Flemish region of Belgium. It coordinates the processing of household residual waste for about one million residents in the Antwerp region, treating the waste that remains after removable or recyclable materials have been extracted in a grate furnace. Heat generated by that process is converted into green electricity and supplies more than 25,000 households. The organization emphasizes transparency, providing public access to its emissions measurements on its website, with results described as exemplary and among the best in Europe. ISVAG is an intermunicipal body established in 1975 by the city of Antwerp and the city of Mortsel, together with the municipalities of Boom, Puurs, Niel and Hemiksem. Its focus falls within the environmental services sector, combining waste processing with energy recovery to serve its six Antwerp municipalities.
