For six decades, Ivymount has created nationally recognized programs and partnerships for neurodivergent learners as well as their families.  The goal in all our programs is to help children, students, and young adults achieve their highest level of development and independence.  In addition to creating our own education and outreach programs, Ivymount forms partnerships with other organizations and researchers, often functioning as a training site, to ensure that our innovative and intensive approach is widely disseminated and influences the larger field of special education and support services.

Ivymount operates the following supported non-profit organizations: The Ivymount School, Ivymount Outreach Programs, and The Maddux School.

Founded in 1961, The Ivymount School is a non-public special education and related services program that integrates academic, social and pragmatic skills programming in classrooms with low student/teacher ratios. Ivymount School currently serves over 200 students from the Washington DC metro area with Autism Spectrum Disorders, intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, other health impairment, specific learning disabilities, and speech or language impairment. 

Ivymount Outreach Programs provides recreational and therapeutic programs after school and on weekends to students with special needs and their families. Development and supervision of Applied Behavior Analysis home programs is also available through Outreach for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. 

The Maddux School is a developmentally-based, early childhood/primary program for pre-school through second grade students.  The school’s unique trans-disciplinary model combines creative approaches with traditional early childhood education.
