J Street is a United States–based public policy organization that mobilizes Americans who support Israel within a framework of Jewish and democratic values to influence U.S. policy toward a secure, democratic Israel. It aims to promote diplomacy-first U.S. leadership and policies that advance justice, equality, peace, and democracy in Israel, the wider region, and the United States. Its core activities focus on three areas: advocating for pro-Israel, pro-peace policies in Congress, the media, and the Jewish community; endorsing and raising funds for federal candidates who share its agenda; and educating the public about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the two-state solution. Based in the United States and operating as a mid-sized nonprofit advocacy organization, J Street engages with the American political system, the Jewish community, and other aligned groups to pursue its policy priorities. A recent development is the organization’s 2026 Convention at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill from February 28 to March 3, which brought together leading experts and elected officials to discuss Israel, antisemitism, civil rights, and related legislative priorities.
