The JACK Quartet is a small chamber ensemble based in New York City, New York, focused on contemporary classical music. It performs and commissions new works, aiming to elevate voices from underheard composers and to foster openness to living classical music. The ensemble has earned significant recognition, including praise from The New York Times and honors such as Musical America's 2018 Ensemble of the Year designation, a spot on WQXR's 19 for 19 Artists to Watch, and an Avery Fisher Career Grant. Recent activity includes developing a new musical work on Potash Hill announced in July 2024 and receiving the Michael Jaffee Visionary Award in November 2023. Earlier, in 2020, the quartet released Lines Made By Walking, an album recorded at Tippett, underscoring its ongoing focus on commissioning and presenting new work.
