JOHN NORTHMORE ROBERTS & ASSOCIATES was established in 1984 to provide landscape architecture and environmental planning services to the public and private sectors. The firm has expertise in all aspects of the landscape design and planning professions, from project conception through final construction. Each public project, and most private projects, that we undertake are developed through an open and responsive community outreach process. Successfully completed projects include parks (national, state, regional, and local), schools, libraries, institutional and industrial campuses, streetscapes and urban plazas, museums, housing and historic restorations.  

The firm is frequently the prime consultant for multi-disciplinary teams, but also participates on such teams as a landscape architectural and site-planning sub-consultant. The firm has expertise in project design, master planning, construction documents, project management, construction review, budgets, land analysis, and public presentations. The quality of our work is reflected in our numerous awards from professional design organizations, contracting associations, public agencies, local communities, and other planning and design entities. 

From the outset, our firm has been committed to the long-term sustainability of design and planning solutions. Our commitment is expressed by employing appropriate materials and technologies, establishing an enduring relationship with the underlying environmental systems for each project, and creating places responsive to local community who will nurture them over time. An ever-increasing number of our projects are being certified by entities that oversee issues of sustainability.

The firm maintains a close and ongoing relationship with U.C. Berkeley and other nearby educational institutions, with each member of the firm committed to training and nurturing the next generation of design professionals.
