Originally founded in New York City by four women of diverse cultures, JUARA means "Winner/Champion"​ in the Indonesian language, and its mission is to help women "Champion their Natural Beauty"​ through their products and interactions with the users. Traditionally launched in traditional retail in prestige beauty chains and online retailers, JUARA pivoted into Social Selling into 2018, to better serve and know its customers as well as empower them with a financial opportunity.
