Founded in 1838, Judson College is one of the oldest women's colleges in the United States. Judson College is an independent liberal arts and sciences college that is affiliated with the Alabama Baptist Convention. The college offers bachelor's degrees in over 40 courses of study, a new Associate Degree of Nursing, and various pre-professional programs, such as pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-pharmacy, pre-physical therapy, pre-law, and pre-engineering. Judson College's facilities include a welcoming library, laboratories, classroom buildings, residence halls, a student center, an athletic park, an equine science center with a covered riding arena, and a clubhouse for social activities. The college participates in a variety of extracurricular activities, including USCAA soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, plus intramural field hockey, basketball, and volleyball. The college also boasts an IHSA Equestrian Team (Hunt Seat and Western). Faith-based service learning opportunities abound; more than 80% of Judson's students volunteer in service activities.
