The organization advocates moving away from charity and purely financial returns, aiming instead to resource movements that confront oppressive systems and build community wealth in low-income areas and communities of color. Based in Oakland, California, Justice Funders appears to operate within the philanthropic fundraising services sector and positions itself as a guide for funders seeking more equitable, impact-driven practices.

The firm’s approach focuses on transforming how philanthropy operates, encouraging institutions to reorient capital and practices from extraction to regeneration. It references aligning with Just Transition principles to support political and economic empowerment.
