Kakenya’s Dream is a non-profit organization focused on advancing education and empowerment for girls in rural Kenya, addressing a cycle of inequality that often limits high school completion, early marriage, and female genital cutting. The organization provides holistic support to girls through education, healthcare, skills training, and economic opportunities, while simultaneously engaging families and communities to challenge and change harmful norms at their roots. Based in Arlington, Virginia, the group operates within a global development and women’s rights context, aiming to create lasting social change by strengthening individual opportunities and the broader environment in which girls live. The organization’s approach emphasizes both direct support for girls and community transformation to foster a more equitable society for future generations. A recent development noted is the launch of the Angaza Project in 2020, reflecting ongoing programmatic expansion designed to guide girls through challenging times.
