KickStart International is a nonprofit social enterprise focused on expanding affordable irrigation in Africa. It designs and distributes its flagship MoneyMaker irrigation pumps, practical tools that help smallholder farmers grow crops year-round, raise incomes, and strengthen food security. The organization is based in San Francisco, California, and operates as a mid-sized nonprofit. Across 17 countries, more than 400,000 pumps have been sold, benefiting over 1.5 million people and supporting more than 300,000 farm enterprises. The pumps enable farmers to shift from rain-fed subsistence to irrigated farming, producing high-value crops even during dry seasons. It works through a network of more than 250 local distributors and partnerships with governments, NGOs, and agribusinesses to keep irrigation technology accessible and scalable.
