Kiska Construction Inc. is a mid-sized contractor focused on heavy civil and infrastructure projects, including tunneling and major bridges. It is based in Astoria, New York, and operates as an affiliate of the Kiska Group of Companies, with roots in heavy construction dating back to 1966 and the company established in 1987. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the firm completed several NYSDOT projects in Region 10 and later undertook substantial tunneling work in Washington, D.C. totaling more than $150 million by the late 1990s. In 2001, Kiska was awarded the Harlem River Replacement of The Third Ave Bridge project for NYCDOT, a $128 million contract that was completed in 2006 and recognized with industry awards after its completion. The following years saw the company participate in the High Line project in New York City, with the first phase awarded in 2006 and three phases completed by 2009 at a total value of about $80 million; the first section opened to the public in June 2009. Since 2009, the firm has been involved in rehabilitation contracts on historically notable bridges such as the Pulaski Skyway, Robert Moses Causeway, and Marine Parkway.
