Korman Communities is a product of four generations of Korman innovation, leadership, passion and hard work. Throughout its history, the Korman company has built more than 30,000 single-family homes, 10,000 apartments and 2 million square feet of retail and office space.

In the 1960s, Steven Korman pioneered the furnished apartment industry in the United States at the Plaza in Philadelphia after realizing there was a whole segment of people that wasn't being served. Steven furnished some of its pie-shaped apartments and began offering flexible leases.

The Kormans continued to break barriers in the industry, enhancing the furnished apartment concept in the 1970s and 1980s at its 23 apartment communities, known as Korman Suites, in the Philadelphia area, offering unparalleled amenities, packages and housekeeping.

Korman Communities Inc., with Larry and Brad Korman as co-CEOs, emerged as a stand-alone company in 1995 and continued to evolve the Korman Suites concept.

Today, Korman Communities'​ portfolio is comprised of more than 7,000 apartments and furnished suites in buildings, ranging from suburban garden-style and mid-rise communities to urban high-rise buildings, all operating under three exciting and innovative residential multi-family brands: AKA, AVE, and ARK with prestigious locations in London, Beverly Hills, Philadelphia, DC, and New York City.
