Laguna College of Art + Design has a location like no other, in a beachside community that lives and breathes creativity — Laguna Beach, California. Our extensive foundation program gives students a thorough preparation for excellence in their chosen field. Our curriculum uses the latest technology and upgrades in hardware and software. And our dedicated faculty and small student-to-teacher class ratio creates an intimate educational environment designed for your success. Founded in 1961 as the Laguna Beach School of Art, LCAD has grown to include twelve undergraduate majors and four graduate degrees. We offer Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees in Animation, Creative Writing, Drawing and Painting, Game Art, Graphic Design + Digital Media, Illustration and Illustration in Entertainment, some with special emphases. Our graduate programs award Masters of Fine Arts in Art of Game Design, Drawing, and Painting. We also offer minors in Animation, Art History, Creative Writing, Drawing + Painting, Graphic Design + Digital Media, Illustration, and Sculpture. LCAD is one of an elite number of institutions that has both regional accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and national accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. We get especially high marks for our use of technology and the liberal arts in the art and design curriculum. Our graduates are career-ready and receive assistance from the Office of Career Services and its many contacts in the art market and industry. Being an hour from Los Angeles students are close to museums, galleries, the entertainment industry, and graphic design studios. Our faculty includes experienced professionals in their field; all are accomplished educators.
