The Lake Forest Library serves Lake Forest, Illinois, and nearby communities as a public library, providing access to a broad range of materials and digital resources for residents and local businesses. Its collections include books, ebooks, audiobooks, movies, and music, along with databases, training software, and a Media Lab, in addition to a program of events and activities designed to educate, entertain, and inform the community. Housed in a historic building, the library was chartered in 1898, opened in 1899, and moved to its current site in 1931, located about 30 miles north of Chicago on Lake Michigan. The institution maintains a small staff. In late 2022, leadership transitions culminated in Ishwar Laxminarayan being appointed Executive Director in January 2023, following an interim period led by David J. Seleb starting in December 2022.
