Lander University is a public, state-assisted four-year institution in Greenwood, South Carolina, offering liberal arts and sciences alongside professional programs in business, education, and nursing. It traces its roots to 1872 as Williamston Female College in Williamston, moved to Greenwood in 1904, and was renamed for its founder Samuel Lander; it joined the state higher education system in 1973.
