About Us Getting back to the earth was in our roots. It all began in the 1980’s when Neil Thelen decided to leave the corporate world of 3-piece suits and (quite literally!) get into a grass roots business of his own. Landmark Landscapes quickly made its mark as one of in the South’s most trusted and most accomplished Commercial Landscape companies. A decade later, after they completed their formal education, Neil’s sons, Mark and John, joined the prospering business and expanded the roots of the company into South Carolina and Alabama. Today, still at the helm, is Mark Thelen. He is a nationally Certified Landscape Professional, who holds a degree in Business Management and a Masters in Theology. With Mark’s direction, Landmark continues to thrive and now employs over 130 associates.
