Language was created by business partners Michael Schreier (C.P.A.) and Avril Ozen (Designer) both hailing from South Africa.  They met in Los Angeles when they were both building their respective careers in the apparel industry.  His financial background paired with her experience in product development proved to be the perfect combination.  In 1995, they took their friendship one step further when they opened their doors as Eastwest Clothing.  Language was introduced as one of their earliest brands, and really began to take off in 2001,when the concept of “the t-shirt as a blank canvas” was born.  

Operating out of a refurbished 1950’s warehouse in East Los Angeles, Ozen and Schreier proudly manufacture 90% of their product in the U.S.A., supporting local industry as well as the neighborhood of Boyle Heights. 

Language has become the ultimate resource for item tops…a fresh spin on the t-shirt, revamped and reinvented.  Using unique fabrications and adornments, combined with dyes, handiwork, and personal touches gathered from worldwide travels and treasured vintage finds, each season of Language tells a new story.
