Law for Black Lives (L4BL) operates in the legal services field with a focus on movement lawyering and building a national community of radical law students, lawyers, and legal workers. The organization seeks to strengthen local organizing to defend and advance Black liberation and to reform legal practice to better support ongoing struggles. It coordinates legal support, training, mentorship, research, and education tools to build a responsive and collaborative legal infrastructure, and it operates as a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy. Based in the United States, it functions with a small team focused on this mission. A notable development noted in recent activity is a partnership with the FIU Nonprofit and Small Business Clinic for the 2021–22 academic year, integrating the Movement Lawyering Squad into clinical work.
