Our Vision: An Australia free of Suicide Our Purpose: To create connection for people in crisis and empower individuals and communities to be safe from suicide. 9 Lives a day are lost to suicide. 1 in 6 Australians 16-85 have experienced suicidal thoughts. 135 people are impacted by each suicide death. Suicidal distress is the human response to overwhelming suffering. Suffering and distress are not unique to mental illness. They can be triggered by loneliness, financial hardship, life transitions. It's complex and layered. It can affect all of us. Our goal is to increase capacity of accessible prevention services to all. We must raise 80% of our own funding for our local services and we rely on our community to help us solve this problem. At Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli we have an expert and holistic understanding of suicide and what people need when they are disconnecting from life in our local community. 97% of help-seekers who engage our counselling and financial counselling services report feeling more positive or hopeful about the future.
