LINK Los Angeles has been in business for 19 years and has listed and sold thousands of businesses. Our Los Angeles office is unique in that we have both, generalist and specialist. Generalists administer the sale of all types of businesses, whereas specialists operate in one specific industry or sector. For instance, we have brokers that target the restaurant industry, the manufacturing industry, the animal hospital industry, the medical industry, the advertising industry, etc. who help owners estimate the value of their enterprise, coordinate negotiations and supervise the closing of the deal. Restaurants account for 20.0% of the market, manufacturing 12.6%, service 27.3%, retail 34.9% with other types of businesses making up the remaining 5.2%. 2016 is bringing more activity than we saw in 2015 and our expectations are that 2016 will be our strongest year since the recession hit in 2008. On the buy side of the equation we have historically low interest rates, strong immigration, a significant number of unsatisfied existing buyers and increased demand from offshore buyers who are looking at growth through acquisition. On the sell side we have the “baby boomers” bringing record numbers of retiring business owners to the market, the real signs of which we are only really seeing now. The number of adults aged 65 and older is anticipated to increase at an average rate of 3.1% until 2019. Consequently there is a substantial and growing volume of business owners nearing or past the traditional retirement age that are now interested in selling their businesses. Since we work with a great deal of foreign born Sellers and Buyers we have the following languages spoken in our office – English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Tagalog, Hindi, Swedish and Farsi languages.
