LitWorld is a New York-based nonprofit founded in 2007 by literacy expert Pam Allyn. It strengthens children and communities through storytelling by running year-round, child-centered programs designed around seven inherent strengths, using literacy to foster self-expression, understanding, and confidence. Stories are viewed as a catalyst for social change and a pathway for empowering young people to shape their lives and communities. LitWorld works with a broad network of national and international partners to reach children worldwide and create spaces where they can explore identities, discover strengths, and express their dreams. Based in New York City, the organization operates with a small to mid-sized staff and maintains international partnerships; in early 2025, it participated in World Read Aloud Day activities, including events linked to libraries in Cape Town.
