Mission: Long Island Crisis Center provides 24/7, free, high quality, confidential and non-judgmental services and programs to support and empower Long Islanders at critical times in their lives. The Crisis Center, established in 1971 as a 24/7, 365 days-a-year suicide prevention and crisis intervention hotline, has grown from one hotline to seven. Our hotlines are a lifeline - for young people - for adults - for those struggling with suicidal ideation family crisis, substance abuse and many other problems. All services and programs are free, confidential and anonymous. In addition to suicide prevention and crisis intervention counseling, many people call us because they feel they have nowhere else to turn. Reaching out to an anonymous hotline is the first step. The Crisis Center maintains a database of more than 800 referrals that have been thoroughly vetted. This rich and in-depth resource provides uninformed and/or isolated individuals with the services that can connect them with the help they need.
