Founded in 2008 during the Phoenix-area foreclosure crisis, Lost Our Home Pet Shelter provides compassionate, comprehensive solutions for pets and the people who love them during times of crisis—including homelessness, eviction, illness, financial hardship, and domestic violence. As a nonprofit, no-kill organization rooted in preserving the human-animal bond, Lost Our Home takes a proactive, community-centered approach. Through innovative safety net programs, the organization works to keep pets with the families that love them, which also prevents unnecessary shelter intakes and reduces strain on overcrowded systems. Since its founding, Lost Our Home has saved more than 40,000 pets and supported over 26,000 people in crisis. Its nationally recognized Temporary Care Program—one of the first and largest of its kind—provides up to 90 days of free shelter for pets while their families access safe shelter/housing, medical care, or protection from violence—delivering more than 169,000 days of free care and removing the barrier of “what happens to my pet” so families never have to choose between their own safety and keeping their beloved pet. The First Responder Program offers 24/7 emergency intake for pets in urgent situations, helping more than 1,400 pets in just eight years. Together with the Temporary Care Program, these services have reunited more than 2,200 pets with their families after crisis. Lost Our Home’s impact also includes rescuing and adopting more than 13,000 homeless pets into loving families and distributing over 1.3 million pet meals through its Pet Food Bank—helping keep pets with the people who love them. This life-saving work is driven by donors, volunteers, fosters, and adopters who believe in the profound impact pets have in our lives. By providing real help to both people and pets in crisis, we create lasting change—strengthening families, supporting communities, and addressing systemic challenges. Join us at www.LostOurHome.org
