The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership is a small nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon, operating as a National Estuary Program focused on the lower Columbia River, which forms the boundary between Oregon and Washington. The organization works to protect and restore habitat to support endangered salmon and other species, while monitoring habitat conditions along the river and at restoration sites. It also coordinates the efforts of local, state, and federal partners to advance care for the Columbia and helps fill gaps in scientific knowledge about the river. In addition to restoration and research, the partnership runs education programs for K-12 students in classrooms and outdoors and conducts on-water experiences using two large canoes. It also mobilizes the community through volunteer events to plant trees, remove invasive species, and clean beaches. In 2023, Washougal partnered with the Estuary Partnership on a project to add stormwater features to Washougal High School’s parking lot.
