Macdonald Architecture & Technology PLC is a small architecture and planning practice based in Culpeper, Virginia. It offers project design, project management, and construction supervision across building types, focusing on sustainable design, green materials, energy efficiency, and environmentally conscious design decisions. Angus Macdonald has developed a structural approach that blends galvanized steel profiles with Ferrocement matrices, yielding strong building systems that use around 20% of the steel and cement required for reinforced concrete and masonry. This method is described as reducing overall material needs and shortening construction times. The resulting structures are said to have a carbon footprint near 20% of conventional constructions and a strength-to-weight ratio about six times that of reinforced concrete, potentially improving resilience in regions prone to hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, or fires.
