The Maine Community College System is Maine's comprehensive public higher education network, comprised of seven colleges, offering technical, career, and transfer programs, along with customized workforce training and lifelong learning opportunities. Headquartered in Augusta, the system operates across Maine with campuses in Auburn, Bangor, Fairfield/Hinckley, Presque Isle, South Portland and Brunswick, Calais, and Wells. As part of the higher education sector, it aims to connect educational pathways with workforce needs through two-year degrees, certificates, and transfer options. In March 2025 the system announced a significant deployment of OpenIAM as part of a broader shared services reorganization and ERP implementation. The MCCS focuses on expanding accessible, skills-based education that supports regional employers and individuals pursuing lifelong learning.
