MDEC is a government agency under the Ministry of Communications and Digital, established in 1996 to lead Malaysia's digital economy. It began with the MSC Malaysia initiative and has since catalysed digital transformation and growth across the country. Based in Cyberjaya, Selangor, the agency develops incentives and governance frameworks to support growth and reinvestment and to bolster Malaysia's status as the digital hub of ASEAN. Its work engages public and private sector partners, including collaborations with ministries, universities, and industry players to implement digital initiatives and develop digital talent.
