Since 1900, the Mans family has served the lumber and building needs of the Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor communities. Nicholas August Mans began selling coal and peat in the Downriver community of Trenton, Michigan.  His business philosophy was simple:  serve and respect the customer, and always treat the customer the way that you would like to be treated.  His business quickly expanded throughout Southeast Michigan, eventually including kitchen and bath design centers, floor coverings, a finished carpentry and millwork shop,  and an installed product division. Mans Lumber and Millwork is large enough to have the resources and purchasing power necessary to offer competitive prices, but small enough to react quickly to the market changes and needs of the community. 

The Mans family continues to operate Mans Lumber and Millwork with the same customer-centered values on which N.A. Mans built his business.  The fourth generation of Mans family is active in the daily business, and they pride themselves on being active in the communities they serve. Our mission continues to be to provide value through quality materials and superior service.  In turn, Mans employees undergo continuous education and training to ensure that customers have access to the latest product information and building techniques.
